Acupuncture:
Acupuncture is a tradition used for health maintenance for 5,000 years. More recently, the World Health Organization has identified 41 conditions that lend themselves to acupuncture treatment. The National Institutes of Health have noted acupuncture's utility in adult post-operative and chemotherapy nausea and vomiting, post-operative dental pain, addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headache, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofacial pain, osteoarthritis, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and asthma.
Your new patient appointment usually includes and extensive interview where your practitioner really listens to you and gets to know you. This is followed by an exam and further assessment. Needles, often thinner than a hair, are placed. Sometimes, people do not even feel the needles. Many people with fear of needles have been treated successfully. In addition to addressing their concern, most clients feel improvements in other areas they did not even expect.
